A LEGO "variant cover" reimagining of Kaare Andrews's art for Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 (2011).

In 2013, Marvel published a series of variant covers as cross-promotion for the release of the videogame LEGO Marvel Superheroes. The covers featured iconic Marvel cover art reimagined as LEGO minifigures. These covers were a perfect intersection of my interests as a young LEGO and Marvel fan. Released just a few years prior, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man is one of the major inspirations that led me to a career in illustration, so I decided to pay homage to the series (and to a lifelong love of LEGO) by creating my own LEGO reimagining of the iconic first issue.
